Gorgeous flowers, Art. I've said it elsewhere just now: For you it's the longest day; for us on the other side of the world, the shortest. In any case it's a milestone in time. Happy solstice.
That hemisphere thing, yeah. You're closer to the equator than I am, though, so the changes may not be as extreme. Here, the summer solstice day is almost 15 hours long. The winter solstice much much shorter.
