Patrick's Point
Patrick's Point State Park, CA, in the Redwoods area
mist heavy visibly moves
fog stream between treestalks
fade to moonwhite in disatnce
layers of receding trees pale
fade to white
moss, dripping mist,
crows calling from all sides—
teasing the dogs
on a walk out to the Point overlook, tunnel of trees
pinebranch brushes
in front of washed out trees:
Southern Song paintings
everywhere I turn
the old Song masters
precede me,
making this landscape
I feel a silent murmur here
only a few other silent folk wandering
in the mist, a quiet, a peace, a tranquil morning
reverent and silent and grace-filled
