Deserts & Skies: Death Valley
Images from Death Valley National Park, CA, February 2010
salt marshes skin over
the long dry memory of summer
when mirage waters burn
traveler warmed
by low-altitude sun—
first day coat-free
stone field under hills
brushed with low clouds at sunset—
no rest for sore crow's feet!

Such amazing stretches of land under loomimg skies. Thanks, Art, for your art, your haiku and photography.
Thanks in return. The skies were pretty amazing all that day, I have to say. Being in the right place at the right time also means being willing to keep looking, stop, and make a photo, while all the other guys drive by wondering what the heck you're doing looking at the sky. :)
Although I have to say, most of my haiku are just shed from the back of the wagon, as I drive on. Most of them could probably be better; but practice, practice, practice, is the only way to improve.
