Pumpkins

From the Halloween house, Cross Plains, WI. They host a public pumpkin carving a few nights before Halloween, to get ready. Then the pumpkins are placed around the house. People can come view them anytime.

If you've become cynical about the holidays, about commercialism taking over the fun you remember from your childhood, then get out the tools and carve yourself a pumpkin. Make some fun happen. Don't be passive, chip in to taking back the fun. After seeing a place like the Halloween house, it's impossible to be cynical. For one thing, it's too much fun. For another, so much of the decorations were hand-made, that you can't walk away from an hour or two spent there and still claim that the Do It Yourself tradition of holiday fun is dead and gone. On the Day of the Dead, it's alive and well in Cross Plains.

Fantastic pumpkins. We do a more simple version but after seeing these we may have to get more ambitious next year!
