arms and hair into the blue—
light sparkling ferns

twisted witch-tree roots
bind the sand into glassed soil—
till the wind moves on

through the window
oak leaves drip with rain—
lakeside morning

Lake Michigan, at Duck Lake
chatting with the girl
who takes money at the store—
driving northward ho
