Florida
Some recent photos of my travels through Florida this past month. Expect more later.
It has something to do with art history, in that B7W was there first, and is still considered more "legitimate" than color photography by many higher-priced galleries.
It also has something to do, and I think this is more important, with the reduction of data. The tones and values and forms and composition become ultra-important, and very foregrounded, because the eye is not distracted by color information. I find that when I'm "thinking Black & White," I sometimes compose the frame more carefully, and/or pay attention to the tonal values more than the actual colors. Contrast and light, etc.
Amazing the impact that b&w has over color.
ReplyDeleteHi, Nigel, thanks for the comment.
